What You Can Expect
I believe in order to get to the nitty-gritty of doing exceptional work, it’s essential to lay out the rules of the road first. It minimizes distractions and acts as a road map — helping you and I make sound decisions, build trust, and inspire creativity.
My Operating Principles
Let’s Be Honest
Honesty grounds any good relationship. I promise to be a straight-shooter and give you a fair rate (this doesn’t mean I’m a cheap hussy, though). I’ll also listen and communicate sincerely and authentically. But it also means I expect candor (truth with care) in our feedback from you.
Be a Problem Solver
I’m not a fusspot, one of those people that criticize and complain about everything. I believe in optimism and taking action. At its core, exceptional design solves problems. I want to help you solve your problems. It’s why I’m here. Using the information you share with me, we’ll discover the best design solutions for you.
Design with Heart
I care about our clients and their success. I’m here as a resource for you and to bounce ideas off, introduce you to a new network connection, become a loyal brand ambassador for your business, listen, and guide you.
Go with the Flow
The ability to be flexible with grace, grit, and agility is vital. It allows us to be open to new ideas and ways of doing things. I recognize being rigid limits creativity. Sometimes it’s ok to break the rules if we know them but priorities change, which means the design goals change too. I don’t take it personally. I know your business is evolving, so we grow together.
Work to Live, Not Live to Work
I believe in doing the best I can for my clients, which means taking time to recharge. Being busy constantly doesn’t put anyone in a creative state of mind. That’s why I subscribe to “the work to live, not live to work mentality”.
Commitment to Curiosity
I approach clients and projects with curiosity and ask questions so I can learn. I’m also fiercely committed to self-development — learning new skills, reading books, and gaining knowledge within my field and outside of it to continually stimulate my creative mind.
Get Outside Your Comfort Zone
I like to push the boundaries of design by giving you options you didn’t even think of or ask for on occasion. Mistakes and failure are an option on the table because I believe that we won’t learn or grow without the freedom to make mistakes.
It Takes a Village
Some projects are more extensive than I can handle all by myself, so I partner with trusted experts and people smarter than me outside of Moonshine to bring you the best outcomes. It also means I work in collaboration with clients to come up with solutions.
Act with Integrity
I do the right thing even when it’s hard. And I don’t pass the buck when I make a mistake. That can mean turning down a project, owning up to a typo, admitting I took a wrong turn, or directing you to someone else. On the flip side, it can mean learning and trying new things too.
Design for Impact
I strive to be a force for good in the world. I want my creations to empower, engage, and inspire others. I also volunteer my time to causes close to my heart like how every child deserves to have a voice and the right to an education. And it’s why we love to work with nonprofits.
