Summit Paint & Stain

Summit Paint and Stain is a paint store located in Denver and Frisco Colorado. They sell Sashco, Permachink, and other trusted log home restoration and maintenance products. Tony, a former log contractor himself, came to us looking for a way to drive more sales and traffic to their Denver store.

Partnering Up...

Tony came to me wanting to drive more traffic to his store, both online and in person.

He manages the store in Denver and has worked in the log home industry for 17 years. He owned his own a log restoration company, Kbartee Renovations, before stepping into this role. He has firsthand experience restoring and maintaining log homes. He knows what it’s like to work with homeowners, as well as being a contractor, which is a huge asset. He also has a close relationship with Sashco and can get products fast and deliver them quickly to his customers.

We got started by sitting down to visit about the challenges he was facing running the store.

1. The store signage was hard to see and his customers were walking into the competition’s store right across the street.

2. Summit’s logo wasn’t designed to reproduce well on T-shirts, signage, etc. And it was hard to read.

3. They didn’t have an established online presence.

Building a Plan

After visiting with Tony, I headed back to my shop to develop a marketing plan and strategy.

Our first step was to tackle the store signage problem and refresh Summit Paint and Stain’s logo.

We create a vinyl sign that adheres to the outside of the window. It's easily seen from the parking lot and stands out better than the signage that was placed behind the tinted windows.

Although simple and not a high-budget item, this simple fix will help Tony’s customers find him rather than go to his competition across the street.

We decided to refresh the logo rather than rebuild it from the ground up. The log wall behind the type was created as scalable vector art for greater flexibility when reproducing it across different media. Whether it’s a billboard or embroidered on a hat, Summit's logo will be recognizable and readable moving forward.

Building Community

Their social media was off kilter. They’d had someone else manage it, but logins were lost and unrecoverable.

We leveled it off by setting up new profiles on Facebook and Instagram that they could manage through Meta Business Suite.

We set our goals and sights on honest product education and building a community for log home owners, DIY’ers, and contractors.

My philosophy with social media is folks connect with brands they feel connected to and that are “real” and not glossy and shiny. People want to see the rough edges. The process. The people behind the products and store.

With this in mind, we photographed Tony at the Denver store and captured his day-to-day activities. We then turned it into content. We also scheduled a time to capture video up at the Frisco store. Up there, they can color-match nearly any stain within 48 hours. And we want to highlight this unique capability.

Since they specialize in Sashco log home products, we’re creating content focused on honest product education.

Partnering with Moonshine Design has been a game changer for our store.

Sarah understood the challenges we were up against—competition right across the street, signage that wasn’t working, and an online presence that had gone flat. She gave us clear direction, refreshed our logo, and created signage that actually brings customers through our door. Plus, the social media and website updates make it easier for both homeowners and contractors to find the products and information they need. After 17 years in the log home industry, I know how important trust and credibility are—and that’s exactly what Moonshine Design is helping us build.
