Your website is like a brochure for your business. In today’s world, an online presence builds credibility and shows you’re professional. It needs to be up-to-date, easy to use, and engaging. If your website shows the following signs of wear and tear, it may be time for a refresh.
1. Your Website Could Go to Kindergarten
Like a log home, your website needs regular maintenance and care. If your website is over 5 years old, it’s time to refresh. Why? Google’s ranking factors change frequently, and an outdated website can hurt your SEO, making it hard for your prospects to find you. Plus, a design that looks like it was created in the 90s can also make your business look unprofessional and outdated.
2. Your Website Isn’t Mobile-Friendly
With over 50% of the internet’s traffic coming from mobile devices, your website must look good and function well on all devices—from mobile phones to tablets to desktop computers. It’s just good manners. A mobile-friendly website will give your visitors a better user experience and help you rank higher in search results.
3. Your Website is Slow or Not Working All
Have you ever had to wait over 15 minutes for someone to show up for a meeting? Or you ordered a product on Amazon to find out it didn’t work later. It’s the same premise here.
Google measures the performance of your website based on its speed, responsiveness, and visual stability.
If your website is fast to load or easy to navigate, it will positively impact your user experience and SEO. But if plugins aren’t working or can’t be updated, or your site is slower than molasses, it will frustrate your customers and drive your leads away.
4. Your Website Doesn’t Generate Leads
If your website isn’t generating leads, it’s time to take a closer look at your design and content. Ask yourself these questions—
- Is my content out of date?
- Does my website use too much jargon?
- Are you talking to the right people?
- Do I have a clear call to action?
Make sure your messaging and content is clear and concise. Include strong calls to action, encouraging visitors to contact you for a free Discovery Call or Estimate. Or create a lead magnet you can trade for an email address to grow your email newsletter list.
5. It’s Hard to Get Around Your Site
Is your website as vague and confusing as IKEA furniture instructions? A well-designed website will make it easy for visitors to find what they need and navigate. Your audience will jump ship quick if your website is cluttered or confusing. Don’t hide your content; make it obvious where to go and the next step.
6. Your Brand Has Evolved
Have you changed your messaging or maybe updated your logo or brand image? If you’ve rebranded your business or changed your messaging or logo, your website should reflect those changes. An outdated website can confuse visitors and make it difficult for them to understand your business. They’ll wonder if they’re in the right place or not.
7. What SEO?
If your website isn’t ranking in search results, you’re missing out on potential customers. A website redesign can help you improve your SEO and attract more organic traffic.
