Happy Friday! How’s your day going?

I don’t know about you, but I want to do all the marketing—email, social media, video, postcards, you name it—for my business. You have to keep the pipeline full, right?

My eyes are definitely bigger than my stomach, though.

That overly full feeling sometimes comes from time constraints. There are only so many hours in the day, and cloning isn’t a thing yet (at least for humans).

Or it might be budget constraints—you don’t have cash to spend, or your marketing dollars have been earmarked for something else.

Either way, the trick is to start small and focus your energy on one thing that will move the needle in a healthy direction so you can do it all (eventually.)

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and your marketing machine will take time to build and fine-tune. It’s okay not to do it all today. Just get started and take small bites.

Below are a few ways to start and get inspired no matter what chunk you decide to take a bite out of.

0724 Design Your Website to Rank Higher with Google

#1 Design a Website that Ranks Higher with Google

I was recently a fly on the wall of a Zoom call between a client of mine and their SEO expert. Their website design is gorgeous, but it’s underperforming.

Their search engine rankings are falling, and they aren’t getting as many lead conversions as they should. With a few SEO, design, and content tweaks and improvements, which I’ll be pitching in to help with, their website should float higher on search engine result pages over time.

Here are the key takeaways from that conversation and tips on combining form and function so your website can rank higher on Google.

Social Media Report from HubSpot 2024

#3 Social Media Trends in 2024

I recently read HubSpot’s Global Social Media Trends Report. The big takeaways are—

  • That brands use AI to create content (no surprise there.)
  • It’s more about building a community than just posting content.
  • Consumers are treating social like search engines
  • And shopping is trending on social media, especially if you’re a Millennial or Gen Zer.

Kappler Mechanical Surprise

#4 The Way to My Heart is Through My Stomach

Kappler Mechanical delivered stellar service on our furnace replacement last March, but they also sent a handwritten note and cookies after all was said and done. They were packaged in plastic, so they weren’t homemade, but it was truly a delightful and unexpected surprise.

The Heineken Boring Phone

#5 The Boring Phone

ICYMI, Heineken launched the Boring Phone in April. It takes us back to the 1990s and promises, “There’s more to social life when there’s less on your phone.” I don’t know about you, but I’m lovin’ it.
