I know I'm feeling relaxed when I take the time to curl up on the couch with a good book. Here's a few books to add to your reading list over break and beyond.

Christmas Shoes: Donna VanLiere
Based on the song The Christmas Shoes in 2000, Donna VanLiere writes a touching tale of hope for the season.
Sometimes, the things that can change your life will cross your path in one instant-and then, in a fleeting moment, they're gone. But if you open your eyes, and watch carefully, you will believe....
Robert is a successful attorney who has everything in life-and nothing at all. Focused on professional achievement and material rewards. He's on the brink of losing his family. Eight year old Nathan's mother, Maggie, is battling cancer. A chance meeting on Christmas Eve brings Robert and Nathan together. In this one encounter, their lives are forever altered as Robert learns an important lesson: sometimes the smallest things can make all the difference.

Skipping Christmas: John Grisham
Not your typical John Grisham book, this books images a year without Christmas. It was also made into a motion picture, Christmas with the Kranks. Luther and Nora Krank decide to skip the holidays, no lights, no annual Christmas party, not even a tree. But as a result hilarious consquences and chaos ensue.

The Boys: A Memoir of a Hollywood Family
Although it's not a Christmas book, I loved this audiobook as told in the voices of Ron and Clint Howard. Authentic and honest it paints a picture of a loving family who just happens to act. They have their ups and downs, zig and zags, but they stick together and support one another. Maybe this hits extra for me since my daughter is on the cusp of going to college but the gift of letting go that Ron and Rance go through and listening how they all go through their teenage years simultaneously reminds me of growing up and going thorough it now with my daughters. The behind the scenes of the shows are fun too, some of them I’ve seen and some I haven’t but my not seeing them didn’t take away from the story.
