Does managing your social media feel confusing and overwhelming? You’re not alone. I get these questions (and more) all the time from friends and clients.
- What should I post?
- Do I need to post every day?
- What channels should I be on?
- Do I have to be on all of them?
- And what’s the algorithm like now?
I’ve been there and done that with organic social media marketing. I had kids and watched them grow up alongside all its iterations, and now my eldest is in college, (when did that happen?!)
But you know what? It really hasn’t changed all that much either.
Successful social media marketing and management starts by making a plan around your business, customers, and what you can realistically keep up with.
Some of my clients need a little guidance; others want a collaborator, and some just want to hand it all over and not think about it at all. I get it.
Whether you’re in Denver, Colorado, or across the country in Asheville, North Carolina, we can work together to help you reach your people.
Here’s a peek behind the curtain at my social media process and what’s working for my clients.

1. Let’s Talk About Your Business
The first time we meet (usually on Zoom, but occasionally in person if you’re local), we’ll sit down and talk about:
- What challenges are you facing?
- What are your goals?
- What have you tried before that worked, or what didn’t?
- Who are your customers, and how do you help them?
- What’s your budget, and how involved do you want to be?
You don’t need to have all the answers.

Pro Tip: People often feel overwhelmed and think they need to be everywhere on the socials. But the truth is, you only need to be where your audience is. We’ll focus on what makes sense for your business.
2. Let’s Build a Plan
Once we’ve decided to partner up, we’ll start building a plan for your social media accounts. Together, we’ll map out and brainstorm ideas around:
- Milestones
- Events
- Evergreen content
- Seasonal shifts in work
Every post has a purpose. It answers a customer’s questions. Educates them. It shows your work or builds awareness, and it connects back to your mission or business goals. Depending on your budget and needs, we can be flexible.
Every post has a purpose.
It answers a customer’s questions. Educates your people. It shows your work or builds awareness, and it connects back to your mission or business goals. Depending on your budget and needs, we have flexible options.
- Full social media management: We handle everything. Planning, creating, scheduling, and posting content. Plus monitoring your accounts. You review and give feedback before it gets published.
- A partnership: We work somewhere in the middle. You want to be hands-on but need an extra set of hands. You need graphics or writing but want to do the posting yourself. Maybe I prep the content, and you post. We’ll configure a solution that fits you.
- A social media consultant: You need guidance with strategy, content ideas, and feedback, while you or your team handle most of the day-to-day posting.
Together, we figure out what fits you best.

Pro Tip: Success doesn’t happen overnight, especially if you’re starting from scratch. Consistency is a long-term game, and you may not see results until 3, 6, or even 12 months in. We’ll measure progress over time, learn what connects with your audience, and adapt. Learn social media best practices here.

3. Getting It Out the Door
You probably have more content to work with than you think.
Brochures, blog posts, project photos, frequently asked customer questions, stories from donors, and that stuff in your head you’re not sure is worth sharing. We can repurpose it all into social media content.
Your content might include carousels, reels, photos, or stories. We prep it, you review it for accuracy and tone, and we make revisions before it’s published.
Variety is the spice of life and social media marketing.
Sometimes, I’ll ask for new photos or a video for a reel idea. You record them on your phone and send them over. If a project calls for it, we can bring in a videographer or editor.
My focus is building community and engagement through educational, entertaining content. That means a mix of content — carousels, reels, static photos, and stories that highlight real people, real stories, and your expertise.
Please note that em dash was NOT created by AI. I just like em dashes.
4. Review, Rinse, & Repeat
We meet every month on Zoom for 30 minutes to touch base. We look at what’s working, what isn’t, and what’s coming up. The process repeats itself every month, and we adjust as needed.
5. What It Looks Like in Real Life
Where I can help: spotting the stories worth sharing, shaping them for your audience, and working them into a plan you can keep up with.

Big Waves
Show the people behind the mission
A short video of Asa packing gun locks gave followers a peek at the person helping get those locks into people’s hands. That reel recorded 3,100 Instagram views. It’s a simple example of how something that feels routine to you can help others understand your work.

It’s all about timing and knowing your audience
A post addressed to Broomfield High School Eagles during prom season paired a photo of Dominic with the message “Your DD will get you home.” With 27,900 Facebook views and 16 shares, it tugged at parents’ heartstrings at just the right time to share the message of making it home safely.

Share your knowledge
The video above shows the crew washing a log home. It went from about 19,800 Facebook views in our April report to 68,000 in June. That’s evergreen content: it stays relevant and keeps working long after you hit publish.

I help build brands. I love partnering with folks across the building materials, nonprofit, and consumer goods industries—big or small. I aim to help you get the good word out about your products, services, and mission so you can grow.
